MUCH MORE

Than Just A Piece Of Art

Authenticity

You Can Verify Online

When you purchase an artwork from Spike the Art, you’re not simply buying a print. You’re acquiring a piece of artwork with its own identity, authenticity and digital record.

Every eligible artwork is individually registered and assigned a unique serial number. For limited editions, each individual piece is also assigned its own edition number — so an edition of 100 isn’t simply 100 identical prints. Each one becomes a separately identifiable piece within that edition.

Every authenticated artwork carries a discreet QR verification code, built directly into the digital artwork supplied with your purchase.

Scan it with a phone and you’re taken directly to its online verification record, where you can see the artwork’s authenticity, unique serial number, edition information and certificate details.

There is no need to rely on a piece of paper that can be lost, damaged or separated from the artwork. The artwork itself provides the link to its digital identity.

Security

Without Spoiling The Art

Your artwork’s Certificate of Authenticity records the information that makes that particular piece unique.

For a limited edition, this includes its individual edition number and total edition size.

The certificate is linked to the artwork’s unique serial number, creating a permanent connection between the physical or downloaded artwork and its authenticity record.

That means that years from now, the artwork can still be checked against its original registration.

An artwork’s story doesn’t necessarily end when it leaves the artist’s studio.

Its digital record can provide a provenance history, recording significant events in the artwork’s life and, where applicable, changes of ownership.

Whether an artwork remains with its original purchaser for decades, is given as a gift, or eventually passes to somebody else, its identity can remain attached to it.

The result is something rather special: the artwork can carry its history with it.

We believe authentication shouldn’t ruin the artwork itself.

That’s why the verification code is deliberately small and unobtrusive. It doesn’t cover the image, interfere with the composition or turn the artwork into something that looks like a security document.

It simply sits there, quietly doing its job. Behind that little code is the information that matters — authenticity, identity, certification and provenance.

With Limited Editions

You Know Exactly What You Own

Limited editions are individually tracked.

If you purchase 17 / 100, you’re not simply buying “one of a hundred prints”. You’re buying number 17 of that specific edition. The verification system knows which individual edition number has been issued, and the live artwork record can show the current status of the edition. As the edition sells, the number of remaining pieces can be reflected online — giving collectors a genuine picture of availability rather than relying on an arbitrary marketing claim.

Own the artwork. Know its story. Verify its authenticity.

Every artwork has a story. With Spike the Art, that story can become part of the artwork itself — from the moment it is created, through its certification and ownership, and potentially for generations to come. You’re not just buying the image.

You’re buying a piece of its history.
